To our loving family at Western Hills Christian Church,

I would like to thank everyone for the cards, flowers, emails and phone calls.  One day I am preparing for surgery at Comanche Memorial on my shoulder and the next day I am waking up at Reynolds Army Hospital with stitches in my knee.  It was very confusing but what wasn’t confusing was the love and concern so many of you showed.  Carol and I are so appreciative of you all.  may God continue to bless and keep you.

Text: Mark 14:10-11,17-26,43-52

I.  Money motivated Judas (Mark 14:10-11)bag-coins-20090405

See: John 12:4-6
Betrayal is the logical conclusion of self-service.

II. Love appeals to Judas. (Mark 14:17-26)

Principle: God has given us free wills to either accept His love appeals or to reject them.

Conclusion:
See: Matthew 27:1-3

Judas was:

  • A manipulator
  • A loner
  • Sorry
  • Helpless to undo what he had done.
  • Unable to overcome his despair.

Where Judas saw no hope, we have hope.  Jesus is alive.  Jesus still forgives.  Jesus will give you a chance to start over if you will let Him.  Answer his love appeal today.

I. Jesus’ example of giving his time. (Luke 10-38-42)clock-20090125

If Jesus were to say, Insert your name here, you are worried, upset, and distracted about many things.”  What might those include?

What are you going to eliminate from your life to be more available to Jesus, your family and your neighbors?

II. Love each other as brothers. (Hebrews 13:1-2)

Have you ever had an opportunity to entertain strangers?

Application:

List some things that you can give up to help you be more available to to others:

The glory of life is to love, not to be loved, to give, not to get,to serve, not to be served.
